Songwriter / Producer / Multi-instrumentalist
Gino
Sgambelluri
Songwriter, guitarist and producer whose work with Dayseeker grew from early guitar contributions into a substantial role in the band’s creative process.

A lifetime around music
Gino Sgambelluri’s connection to music began early. Inspired by his older brother, whose shows he attended from around age nine, Gino started on drums before picking up guitar and exploring singing and songwriting.
Before joining Dayseeker, he played lead guitar in the Southern California pop-punk band For The Win and contributed guitar writing to the EP Break the Ice. He was drawn toward music with a darker, more melodic and emotionally driven sound.
Writing with Dayseeker
Gino Sgambelluri joined Dayseeker while the band was developing its debut album, What It Means to Be Defeated. After learning “Resurrect” for an audition, he connected with the band musically and personally and became part of its early lineup.
His songwriting involvement grew across subsequent releases. During sessions for the second album, Origin, Gino performed the drum parts and helped develop the drum writing alongside drummer Mike, in addition to contributing guitar parts and original song ideas.
Songs he identifies as especially meaningful to his writing include “A Cancer Uncontained,” “Crooked Soul,” “Drunk” and “Already Numb.” His contributions across these tracks range from guitar and drum writing to foundational ideas that helped shape the finished songs.
On the road
Touring with Dayseeker brought Gino Sgambelluri to stages around the world, including Australia and Japan. Among his standout memories are a sold-out headline performance at The Forum in Melbourne and a sold-out hometown show at San Diego’s Viejas Arena with Pierce The Veil.
After years of touring and recording, Gino chose to focus more of his time on the songwriting and studio work he had long envisioned as the next chapter of his career.

The creative process at Blackgateco
Gino Sgambelluri’s partnership with Tyler Ruehl grew out of years of friendship and spontaneous studio sessions. What began as making music for the fun of it developed into a shared production and songwriting direction at Blackgateco.
Their sessions often begin with references and a conversation about the mood of a song, followed by riffs, drum parts, melodies or a production idea. They build arrangements collaboratively and stay open to changing direction when a stronger hook or musical moment emerges.
For Gino, a great song should feel like a discovery: something that opens up new creative possibilities. When collaborating with artists, he and Tyler discuss creative freedom up front and keep communication open so the finished record stays true to the artist’s goals.

Keep creating.
Today, Gino brings his experience as a writer, touring musician and multi-instrumentalist to artists working with Blackgateco.
